In this Lyre Masterclass, specially designed for the few advanced lyre players out there, we will explore the tremolo technique through fun and challenging exercises while adding many advanced music pieces to our repertoire, ideal for astonishing our audience. This course is for competent lyre players who have preferably (but not obligatory) completed the Advanced Semester of the LyreAcademy. What’s more, it is for lyres of any type with at least 7 strings.*

The course can be done by students with
a lyre or a kithara with 7 or more strings. Simple and step-by-step videos are available to prepare your lyre for the courses (including tuning).
Lesson 1: Introduction to Tremolo
What is precisely the tremolo technique? In what other musical instruments is mainly used? Why and how can we cleverly adapt this technique in our lyre playing?
Lesson 2: From Classical Guitar to the Ancient Lyre
In this lesson, we will see how we can adapt the tremolo technique, specifically the one used by classical guitarists, to our lyre playing. We will explore some of its secrets and practice together using specially-designed exercises.
Lesson 3: Adding Tremolo to your Daily Routine
“Practice is everything,” Periander, one of the seven Sages of ancient Greece, once said. And this is true, especially for the lyre. Let’s see together three very effective and fun exercises to add to your daily routine to maximize your results.

Lesson 6 Tremolo & Fingerstyle Playing: the Spanish Way
It is time to learn how to play a famous traditional song from Spain, titled “Malaguena,” using both fingerstyle and tremolo techniques.
Lesson 7 : Combining Tremolo with Harmonics
All you need to know to effectively combine tremolo with harmonics! In this lesson, we will learn how these two advanced techniques can be combined and (more importantly) when it makes sense to combine them. Plus: Practical tips, and lyre exercises
Lesson 8: Combining Tremolo with Chords
It is time to learn how to combine the tremolo technique with regular chords on your ancient lyre by learning an original composition titled “New Era.”
Lesson 9: Learn to Play “Tradition”

Lesson 10 Combining Tremolo with a Plectrum
Time to add the plectrum in your tremolo technique to have an additional level of finesse in your playing. We are going to learn together, step by step, an original composition for the ancient Ivre. specially written to use tremolo.

Let’s add another challenging melody to our lyre repertoire, one that combines the tremolo technique magnificently with hroes!
