OMT for the Lower Extremity
Session Objectives
- Recognize elements of an HPI which may indicate somatic dysfunction is relevant to a patient’s chief complaint.
- Compare and contrast standard orthopedic examination tests with osteopathic examination techniques, then integrate and apply both in a primary care setting.
- Recall common pathology of the hip/knee/ankle/foot.
- Recall common somatic dysfunction of the hip/knee/ankle/foot.
- Utilize OMT to treat common somatic dysfunction of the hip/knee/ankle/foot in a manner that is both effective and time-efficient.The North Carolina Osteopathic Medical Association is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians and designates this program for a maximum of 1 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.

Dr. Gregory Hon is an Assistant Professor of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine at Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine. He received his Doctor of Osteopathy from A.T. Still University Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (NMM/OMM) at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, MO. He went on to complete a primary care sports medicine fellowship program at the Institute for Non-Surgical Orthopedics in South Florida. Dr. Hon is board certified in NMM/OMM and holds a certificate of added qualifications in sports medicine (CAQSM).
