But it wasn’t always like that. I was a miserable failure when I tried to get publicity work. At age 15, I began trying. I have a collection of books from so many authors that I am proud to say I started reading at age 15.-called publicity experts — most of whom I’d never heard of and had no publicity of their own to brag about (which should have told me something, but I was young and dumb). I followed their orders. I read through press releases and spent a lot of money on it. “press kits”. It was quite a while before they gave up on me. “normal” Way of doing things.
But I gave up.
It turns out, most of the “pros” in this field needlessly complicate the entire process, to make it mystical and very expensive, so they make a lot of money — whether their clients do or not. They know a lot more than you and me about what they do.
They were so frustrating that I quit trying to get them.
It was difficult for me to find my way. This idea was tested, and then this one. Looking at the work of people who have gotten lots of press coverage and made a lot of money doing it. Talking to media people about what I’d been doing wrong. I searched for the FORMULA which would allow me to cut through all the clutter to get the media to pay attention.
Through a sequence of events, contacts, discoveries and costly experiments you probably couldn’t replicate if you tried for 100 years, I came up with a fairly simple process that really worked. The fact is that I received more publicity and sales the first time it was implemented in its entirety. This was my. “Brooklyn Bridge” venture.

Paid Advertising Isn’t Worth Spit Compared to What You Can Get For Free With My Methods
When I see the amount of money that is being wasted on expensive advertising, it makes me feel sick. It makes my skin crawl to write checks for thousands, if not tens of millions of dollars, for advertising in magazines. I would be happy to pay half of the price if I could.-hours on TV for $20,000 to $50,000 each, I’d never get a night’s sleep. Even spending $500.00 on a Val could be enough to get me to sleep.-Pak coupon or newspaper ad from one town bug me. I prefer FREE.
But being a cheapskate really isn’t the issue here.
Here’s what IS important: stories about you in the media are FAR more believable and powerful and attractive than any ads you could possibly run. Being interviewed on a radio station is more credible than being a commercial on the radio.
I call this “the halo effect”. It’s as if you’ve been blessed by that newspaper, magazine or station. This is a great plus!
You also get a journalist to write the story in a way that he believes his readers will enjoy. Another plus!
And here’s another little SECRET: right now, if you “fake” An article – Write it yourself, and then print copies to look just like they appeared in a publication. You can use these in mailings or handouts.-You could end up in legal trouble for outs and other reasons. The Federal Trade Commission declares that such things are FRAUDULENT. You can still reprint articles about you that are true and appeared in print. A reprint is a great addition to a direct.-Mail campaign or great trade show hand-A great window sign that can be blown up large or out.
The bottom line is, however, that paid advertising simply cannot compete with free publicity.
One example: I know a business consultant that advertised his services in every issue of an airline magazine. For a small ad, I spent about $3,000 per month. Each month, I usually got a few leads. The entire exercise was almost insignificant. A simple news release FAXed by them to him resulted in a feature on him and his unique method. He received over 200 inquiries from that article and was able to do more business than he did in two years of paid advertisement.
